Primary School Survey Results and Next Steps

Raheen NS recently participated in the Department of Education and Youth's Primary School Survey. We would like to thank all parents and guardians who took the time to complete the survey and share their views.

The purpose of the survey was to gather information about parental preferences regarding:

  • Co-educational or single-sex provision
  • School patronage/ethos
  • Language of instruction (English or Irish)
The survey included responses from parents and guardians of children currently enrolled in Raheen NS, as well as parents and guardians who indicated an intention to enrol a child in the school in the future.

Survey Results

The survey results for Raheen NS are attached below.

The percentages shown in the results reflect the preferences of parents and guardians who participated in the survey. The results also include a margin of error, represented by a red line. This helps indicate the range within which the views of the entire parent body are likely to fall.

For example, where the entire margin of error sits above 50%, it suggests that a majority preference is likely to exist across the wider parent body.

Please note that responses from staff members and the Board of Management are not included in the published school results. This is to protect privacy, particularly in smaller school communities. These responses may be considered separately should the school wish to explore any future changes.

The survey results have also been shared with our Patron, the Bishop of Ferns, and will be published nationally by the Department of Education and Youth as part of a wider report on parental preferences across the country.

What happens next?

The Board of Management will now review the survey findings and consider what they may mean for the future development of the school.

As part of this process, we welcome feedback from parents, guardians and members of the wider school community. Any views shared will be carefully considered alongside the survey results before any decisions are made.

Should there be a clear preference for change identified through the survey and consultation process, the Board of Management may decide to submit an Expression of Interest to the Department of Education and Youth. Schools that choose to explore a change in configuration are provided with guidance, support and a dedicated contact person by the Department throughout the process.

Providing Feedback

We encourage all members of our school community to review the survey results and accompanying guidance document

Parents and guardians who wish to provide feedback are invited to contact the school office by 30th September 2026

Email: contactus@raheennswexford.net

All feedback received will be carefully considered by the Board of Management as part of its review of the survey findings and any future decisions regarding the school's configuration.
